On writing: the story of a residency (in videos)
Those of you following along on my social media, or on youtube and facebook will know by now - in April I had a fantastic opportunity to travel to Sweden to the Visby International Centre for Composers for a residency. For me, 3 weeks to devote purely to writing is something I've not had the luxury of ever. It was an incredible honour to be able to go - and let me just say here publicly that I would not have been able to attend without support from the Arts Council of Ireland.
I've been really enjoying chatting about different ideas and topics over on my youtube channel, but for the time I was there, naturally I talked about what I was doing with my time there.
Jump on in there!
When I got back from my residency, I had a lot of people asking me "why did you go to Sweden? Can't artists write anywhere?". If you're wondering that yourself, I talk about that a bit here.
A few weeks out from this residency (it feels like years ago now), I haven't actually been able to listen back to what I made, because I have the wrong software on my computer...but I will keep working on the Bon Iver tributes and see where it leads. I'll keep you all posted here and on my socials.
Hope you enjoy the videos - especially if you're an artist, I hope it gives you some sort of solidarity or insight that's helpful for you.
As always, I love hearing your questions and your thoughts so do comment and if you're up for it, subscribe!
